A Bi-Scheduler Algorithm for Frame Aggregation in IEEE 802.11n
نویسندگان
چکیده
IEEE 802.11n mainly aims to provide high throughput, reliability and good security over its other previous standards. The performance of 802.11n is very effective on the saturated traffic through the use of frame aggregation. But this frame aggregation will not effectively function in all scenarios. The main objective of this paper is to improve the throughput of the wireless LAN through effective frame aggregation using scheduler mechanism. The Bi-Scheduler algorithm proposed in this article aims to segregate frames based on their access categories. The outer scheduler separates delay sensitive applications from the incoming burst of multi-part data and also decides whether to apply Aggregated MAC Service Data Unit (AMSDU) aggregation technique or to send the data without any aggregation. The inner scheduler schedules the remaining (delay-insensitive, background and best-effort) packets using Aggregated-MAC Protocol Data unit (A-MPDU) aggregation technique.

The IEEE 802.11n standard promises to extend today’s most popular WLAN standard by significantly increasing reachability, reliability, and throughput. Ratified on September 2009, this standard defines many new physical and medium access control (MAC) layer enhancements. These enhancements aim to provide a data transmission rate of up to 600 Mbps. Since June 2007, 802.11n products are available ...

Providing Quality of Service (QoS) to real time applications over Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) is becoming a very challenging task due to the diversity of multimedia applications. Concurrently, there are numerous WLANs devices that are rising recently. Mainly, we focus on IEEE 802.11n since it was designed to support a high data transmission rate (toward 600 Mbps) based on frame aggrega...

The IEEE 802.11n standard is defined to achieve a high throughput at the MAC layer. This high throughput is accomplished via many enhancements in both the physical and MAC layers. A key enhancement introduced in the 802.11n standard is frame aggregation. Two types of aggregation defined by the 802.11n standard, aggregate MAC service data unit (A-MSDU) and aggregate MAC protocol data unit (A-MPD...

متن کاملOpportunistic Scheduling in IEEE 802.11n WLAN
In wireless local area network (WLAN) environment with independent user fading, at least one user is likely to undergo very good channel state at any time, and this is called multiuser diversity. For high system performance, a transmission scheduler at the LLC layer is required to exploit this multi-user diversity by opportunistically selecting a feasible user with a good channel, and it is ref...
